Coffee Review - Roasterie Voodoo

(2 min read)

As a preface, I’ll just say that this “review” is based solely on my taste and preference. Maybe you’ve tried this coffee and totally disagree with me: that’s totally fine! I have no idea what your taste buds are on about, and you have no idea what mine are up to. All that said, here’s my scale (highest to lowest).

  • Brewster Approved (A must have)
  • Lukewarm (7.9 - Good, not great)
  • Brewtal (Brew directly down the drain)

I picked up The Roasterie Voodoo blend on a whim; they were out of any roast that I recognized. I tend to lean toward nutty / spicy flavors (for my dark roasts anyway), so I figured why not.

The first thing I’ll say is it’s so smooth. Bad dark roasts (subjective) required creamer; a problem I’m acquainted with at my workplace. So, to my surprise, I was able to drink this brew black without any issue. When it first hits, I can very much taste the smokey flavor and spice they mention on the bag. It’s not overly spicy, a problem I have with other spiced blends. It’s once you gulp it down where you start to get the nutty aftertaste; also very subtle. To really accentuate the nuttiness, I have to do this weird breath out-of-my-nose technique: highly sophisticated. I’d say if you’re looking to try a dark roast that doesn’t annihilate your senses, give this a go.

Rating: Brewster Approved.
