Windburn Barrens

First off, I want to thank you for stopping by, taking a moment out of your day, and bothering with my ramblings. Second, it really does mean a lot that you’ve listened to my music (or are about to).

I started this song in November, 2019; my friends and I had just returned from a little road-trip to Colorado. On one of the days, we hiked up to Emerald Lake. It being November, the trail was well iced over and snowy. Now, prior to this trip, I already had in mind to create a mini-album centered around ice, but this trip provided me with the inspiration to get started. When I set out with this song I told myself it should be “airy, open, windy, and atmospheric.” I pictured walking alone through a frozen flatland as the sun sets. This track was challenging for me because of the very low tempo; something I had little-to-no experience with. I spent hours on the main section, building layer upon layer, only to strip it down to the synth-line you hear and rebuild. To challenge myself a bit further, I forced myself to use my Korg Minilogue analog synth (a physical synth as opposed to software). Long story short, it feels great to return with new music and I truly hope you enjoy it and can immerse yourself in it.

If you have feedback, I’d love to hear it.
